Rebel Letters Campaign

From Never Again

Rebel Letters Campaign gives the power of peace to the citizens of the world by urging them to write to Darfurian rebel leaders requesting them to unite. Only when the groups present a common face can negotations begin and bring about the end of the conflict. What makes this matter more difficult is the constant fragmenting of rebel groups, creating more differences and more violence. If you are not aware of the situation in Darfur, it is dire. Innocent civilians are being forced to flee for their lives, women are being raped en masse, conditions in refugee camps are barely livable and the killing is relentless. Please help us bring the violence to an end. It only takes a moment but it will save lives and quicken the road to peace.

By writing the letter, people will be able to collectively convey to the rebel groups that the world community is aware a sustainable peace is not possible without their unity and urges them to take this step towards ending the violence in Darfur.

Rebel Letters was developed by Never Again International, in an effort to meet the urgent need that exists to unite the fragmented rebel movement in Darfur. Uniting the rebels is the first, and most pressing, step in creating a solution to fix the crisis. By mobilizing the international civil society to call for a unity within the Darfurian rebel movements, a renewed internationally monitored peace negoatiation can begin with the government of Sudan.

To date, peopele from twenty four countries have have their voices heard. These countries include: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Greenland, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda, South Africa, Switzerland, Sudan, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The man behind this campaign for peace is Adeeb Yousif, the Director of the West Darfur Office of Sudan Social Development organization (SUDO).
