Support Never Again

Never Again has an impressive track record in its field, bringing together young people with experts to provoke creative thinking, delivering projects and supporting the organic development of clubs in which hundreds of young people across the Great Lakes can become directly involved in building peaceful societies.

Our achievements to date include:

  • A major youth conference bringing youth of the Great Lakes region to Kigali. At the request of one of our speakers, the President of the World Bank, participants put together a series of recommendations to the UN before its General Assembly in September 2005.
  • The only major British commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the genocide at the Imperial War Museum in London.
  • A national competition to empower the youth of Rwanda to confront their history and build reconciliation through essays and art - one of the first chances since the genocide for youth to explore their national history
  • Organising the visit of many groups of international students to Rwanda, including participants from Britain, the United States, Japan, Israel, Canada, Sweden the Netherlands and many more.

Most recently, our Rwandan peacebuilding office hosted a visit by American youth to exchange ideas about human rights, the UK chapter has organised a conversaton with Senator General Dallaire in the Houses of Parliament and the New York chaper has organised a major day of discussion about conflict education.

We are always seeking creative partnerships with funders or other types of supporters. Our network has a wealth of expertise in peacebuilding while also being a fresh, dynamic forum for youth to have a voice in the international arena. By working with us, you can help 'Never Again' become a reality.

Project Areas

We have a wealth of ideas, many of which will only ever come to fruition if we are able to find funding or logistical partners. If any of the following projects fall into your areas of interest, make contact with our communications coordinator who will get you talking with the right person in your part of the world.

  • Youth reconciliation and democracy-building projects reaching the whole of Rwanda
  • Sports tournaments between Clubs
  • A Peacebuilding Centre in Kigali hosting a library and other resources for empowering youth in the region
  • A national student newspaper for Rwanda, encouraging critical debate and stimulating creativity
  • Forums between youth in crisis, post-conflict and peaceful areas
  • A Media Centre in Butare where arts and creative thinking can meet peacebuilding
  • A collaboration with Lt. General Dallaire to establish a summer camp in Rwanda and to work with him on projects about youth and conflict prevention
  • A collaboration with Professor Theordore Zeldin to organise his Conversations sessions in Rwanda and to introduce his method to Never Again members
