A community of individuals
From Never Again
[edit]
Never Again is...
[edit]
a community of individuals...
- not objective of career but huge part of life, life changing
- a home
- activists dedicated to changing the world whatever field they work in
- not a day job, but an approach to a global social and political way of life.
- a community – network of individuals – ensemble
- feeling a sense of collective and an individual within the collective
- Fluidity accessible
- non membership/restrictive/year by year – but part of life (need to discuss)
[edit]
a connective process…
- Reflect and retreat
- the way we work is as important as what we do – process even more important than result
- healthy balance life
- sustainability and environmental sustainability
- working inwards and outwards
- outreach and introspection
- conversation as a tool internally externally
[edit]
to generate ideas and action…
- human connections
- Reciprocal learning
- NA fits all contexts
- We can all be peacebuilders
- a vehicle for critical independent thinking and making connections
[edit]
with an aim to put humanity at the centre of international political decision making…
[edit]
using a Long Term, systemic approach to conflict prevention…
- long term root causes approach (when looking at more short term things it is using methods derived from long term approach)
- developing our methodology as we go
[edit]
across a Global network…
- Working simultaneously across in more than one direction
- thematic structure of NA’s programmes which drive the organisation
- 21st century ngo, global structure, network, connectivity, bottom up, reciprocal
- national committee administrative, legal and spark inspiration approach
[edit]
empowering young people…
- network of empowered individuals acting to support each other in sharing knowledge, experience and working together to generate ideas and action for peace.
[edit]
to change world structure...(and possibly revolution – shh!)
- Introduce NA approaches to mainstream establishment and to next generation policy makers journalists, educationalists etc.
- Create and facilitate alternative spaces to carryout and train in NA work
[edit]
connecting people across divides…
- Breaking communication barriers, sharing information and experience to generate ideas and action for peace. Bring people together: sometimes people who have lived through violent conflict with those who have not, children of survivors with children of perpetrators, policy makers with people for whom their policy might affect, people who share an office building but have never spoken before, professionals with their counterparts from the other side of the world.
- Nifty with internet communications.
[edit]
collaborating as friends and with the help of experts…
- keep old long term members involved
- Collaborations with likeminded organisations
- Collaborations with multi-disciplinary and specialised experts across field.
- Combining personal and community experience with research work and expert advice to develop our approaches
- Multidisciplinary approaches and engage multidisciplinary leadership
